Welcome to the artistic world of the Renoirs!

Essoyes, in the heart of the Côte des Bar region, is home to the Renoir family. Come and explore the vast array of artistic creations on display.

The “Espace des Renoir” provides a stunning account of the links between the Renoir family and the village. The landscapes around Essoyes provided an abundant source of inspiration, and the artist created many of his masterpieces here.

Take the route that leads to the artist’s studio, located at the bottom of the garden at the family home. You’ll find that the spirit of Pierre-Auguste Renoir is still present here to this day.
The first floor is bathed in light, revealing his uniquely private and creative world.
Close your eyes and you can still sense him there, caressing the canvas with his brush.

Clairvaux Abbey

Clairvaux Abbey stands at the heart of the ancient Gaul forest which covers the hills and valleys of the foothills of the Plateau de Langres. It is located 15 km from Bar-sur-Aube, on a site enveloped in silence. It was here, eight centuries ago, that Saint Bernard created a clearing in the Val d'Absinthe and built the famous abbey where he lived until his death.
