The Côte des Bar: hills, character and traditions

The Côte des Bar, which connects Bar sur Seine to Bar sur Aube (the name derives from the Celtic “Bar” or “Barr”, meaning peak), offers extensive and spectacular panoramic views over the hillside vineyards and the wooded peaks.

This prestigious Champagne vineyard, with over 8000 hectares of noble grape varieties (pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay), is responsible for 1/4 of all wine produced under the Champagne appellation.

500 winemakers in over 50 listed areas give our region its claim to fame as pinot noir country.

The Champagne Tourist Route passes through every village in the vineyard, so you can come and meet our winemakers.
